ACTIONS FOR PREVENTION
The Chau Mosquito Campaign promotes prevention actions and strategies in the localities with which it works and articulates.
Through the Good Practices Contest, participants are encouraged to develop prevention actions in their communities that are then disseminated to strengthen and inspire good practices in other areas and places.
The Campaign also carries out a contest for schools and educational areas.

In a Maternal Garden with 10 classes, the 3-year-old level was in charge of creating the three-dimensional mosquitoes with the help of the families and they incorporated a QR code so that the mosquito could give recommendations on how to avoid reproduction. Also the 4-year-old level composed the song "cumbia against dengue", in addition to making puzzles and a memotest in reference to the theme. The 5-year-old level was responsible for making posters and brochures, which will be distributed to neighborhood businesses and people living around the Kindergarten.

The video was filmed and edited by boys and girls of Secondary Level together with two teachers in charge of the video editing workshop. The idea was to create an advertising guideline and point out that the most important thing is prevention.

They placed ovitraps in the school yards. Weekly the students surveyed the ovitraps in search of eggs. When they found them, they were separated into closed bottles or jars where they observed the life cycle of the mosquito. Simultaneously, seminars were held with the school community.

We organize the proposal into three main sections. We began with informative talks about the disease, the life cycle of the vector, favorite breeding sites and control methods. Then we held a practical section whose objective was to raise awareness through interaction with biological material, so that participants would be able to recognize, in their own homes or spaces, the vector in its different phases of development. The third section was implemented at a later stage, after the Chau Mosquito campaign material came to our attention. Cards related to the content of the talk were chosen and the suggested methodology was applied.
