RED CROSS AND ADEUS MOSQUITO IN SÃO PAULO

Prevention of diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito is strengthened through clear, accessible information and sustained work close to communities. With that premise, the ADEUS MOSQUITO campaign (Chau Mosquito's local chapter in Brazil) arrived in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, alongside the São Paulo Red Cross.

Focused on preventing dengue, zika, and chikungunya, this education and community action initiative seeks to strengthen collective care in a continuous way, staying close to and adapted to people's and communities' realities.

The launch takes on particular relevance in a context where diseases transmitted by Aedes aegypti remain a public health threat in the state of São Paulo, which in recent years has recorded a high epidemiological burden, mainly of dengue, but also with sustained circulation of chikungunya and zika. 

In 2024, São Paulo accumulated 2,157,455 confirmed dengue cases and 9,681 chikungunya cases, while in 2025 there were 871,939 confirmed dengue cases and 7,568 chikungunya cases, according to the São Paulo State Epidemiological Bulletin.

ADEUS MOSQUITO promotes the training of multipliers, distribution of educational materials, hands-on workshops, and local actions in priority areas of the city and its outskirts. The goal is for prevention to become part of families' daily lives, strengthening collective commitment and reaching an ever-growing number of people.

With support from SC Johnson and overall coordination by Edupas, the campaign drives community strategies to expand access to reliable information and promote prevention actions in the most exposed areas.

The initiative combines education, participation, and local action to strengthen prevention in an accessible and sustained way.
