CHAU MOSQUITO EXHIBITIONS IN THE CITY OF BUENOS AIRES

During 2025 and 2026, the Chau Mosquito campaign held two open, free exhibitions in emblematic green spaces of the City of Buenos Aires: the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve and the Buenos Aires Ecopark.

Visitors were able to approach informational panels to learn more about mosquitoes, the diseases transmitted by Aedes aegypti, how to identify and eliminate breeding sites at home, and the most effective prevention and protection measures to adopt.

Exhibition at the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve

At the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, the exhibition was present in two areas of the site. During October 2025, it was located along the path leading from Camino de los Lagartos toward the riverbank, a spot used for recreation thanks to the shade of its trees. Then, starting in December 2025 and throughout the summer of 2026, it was installed along the Camino de los Lagartos corridor, a heavily used route during visits.

The initiative was aimed at the general public, with free admission, offering a space where scientific information meets the community, inviting people to learn while enjoying nature.

Exhibition at the Buenos Aires Ecopark

The campaign opened a larger exhibit at the Buenos Aires Ecopark. There, local residents and tourists were able to tour the open-air exhibit during December 2025 and January 2026. This initiative combined information, fun facts, and educational games.

The exhibition will return starting in August 2026, marking World Dengue Day and the 10th anniversary of the Chau Mosquito Campaign.

One of the exhibition's main highlights was "Aedelita," a giant representation of a female Aedes aegypti mosquito, created by replica specialist Santiago Reuil.

Through word searches, illustrations, and texts, visitors were able to learn about:

• The characteristics of mosquitoes and their role in nature.
• The different species present in the city.
• Mosquitoes as vectors of viruses and diseases.
• Aedes aegypti and its connection to dengue.
• Personal and family protection measures.
• Why prevention at home is the most effective strategy.
• Dengue symptoms and warning signs.

The first exhibition in this series opened on May 28, 2025, in Mexico City, alongside the Mexican Red Cross, at its historic Museum in the Zócalo area. It featured a representation of the female Aedes aegypti made using cartonería, a traditional technique in this country, created by Mexican artists.

These new initiatives, developed by the CHAU MOSQUITO CAMPAIGN with the support of SC Johnson, reinforce the commitment to education for prevention, promoting evidence-based information accessible to the general public, so that each person can take action from home and strengthen the health of their family and community.
